The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

I’ve been hearing a lot about The Kiss Quotient, so I was really excited to finally read it.

Watch Us Rise by Renée Watson + Ellen Hagan

I really enjoyed this novel. Having feminist literature accessible to and in the perspective of young people is SO important and crucial to us seeing a true change in society.

The Everlasting Rose by Dhonielle Clayton

Dhonielle Clayton continues to weave a masterful web ensnaring my attention and my appreciation. The world of Orléans she has built has quickly become one that I long to return to.

Pride and Prejudice and Passports: A Modern Retelling by Corrie Garrett

I really enjoyed this book! The modern retelling of a classic book from a Mexican American family in the Trump era was a story line I did not see coming!

Black Girls Must Die Exhausted by Jayne Allen

This book itself is my love letter – to you, to black women, to women and to all those who understand the beauty that comes through struggle and the benefit of doing their own work to heal, to understand, to grow, and most importantly, to love more fully.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

Wow, how do I even begin this review? I have SO MANY FEELINGS about this book. It’s set in African folklore, all about that black girl magic, AND it’s a response piece to police brutality against black bodies? UGH, slay me, Tomi. And don’t even get me started on the fact that Tomi is my age (26) and out here slaying her FIRST NOVEL and already has a movie deal?! UGH, slay me AGAIN, Tomi!!!!!!!!
