I love a good dystopian fiction novel, but mix in some super powers and this anime loving girl is in her bookish happy place!
This book itself is my love letter - to you, to black women, to women and to all those who understand the beauty that comes through struggle and the benefit of doing their own work to heal, to understand, to grow, and most importantly, to love more fully.
The intricacy of the world building gave me goosebumps. I was able to recreate the Inuit world in my mind so easily because of the detail the book entailed.
Like many others, I had no idea this was a book series until it came out on Netflix. I, of course, binge watched it and immediately had to read the books.
So, I wasn't be able to go to my local Friends of the Library sale last month (and I am SUPER bummed), but I did pick up these new reads in the last month from the Barnes & Noble #BookHaul and from Book of the Month Club and I'm very excited to get through my books on deck to get to these! There are also a few ARCs I'll be reading and reviewing this month too.
