Wrapping up February with reviews + hopes for Spring!

February was a great month of reading! I read and listened to quite a few novels this month, including a few ARCs. I took a dip into Fantasy, Romance, Nonfiction, and Urban Fiction. Take a look at these mini reviews and let me know what you think!

A Very Large Expanse of Sea transports us back to 2002 in the wake of 9/11 when tensions are high and negative extremist stereotypes of Muslims are rampant. Here, we meet Shirin, a 16 year-old Muslim-American who’s learning how to navigate high school in this new post-9/11 reality. Shirin is just like any other American girl, but those around her can only see her hijab and the prejudices that surround her choice of showing her faith.

A Blade so Black by L.L. McKinney

I really enjoyed this read! It’s the Alice in Wonderland + Buffy crossover I never knew I needed. I have always loved the dark playfulness of Alice in Wonderland, so to read urban twist to the classic family centered around a black teenage heroine in modern times? Count. Me. In! The Story: The book begins
