I really enjoyed this book! The modern retelling of a classic book from a Mexican American family in the Trump era was a story line I did not see coming!

The intricacy of the world building gave me goosebumps. I was able to recreate the Inuit world in my mind so easily because of the detail the book entailed.

So, I wasn’t be able to go to my local Friends of the Library sale last month (and I am SUPER bummed), but I did pick up these new reads in the last month from the Barnes & Noble #BookHaul and from Book of the Month Club and I’m very excited to get through my books on deck to get to these! There are also a few ARCs I’ll be reading and reviewing this month too.

Wrong End of the Table: A Mostly Comic Memoir of a Muslim Arab American Woman Just Trying to Fit In by Ayser Salman

Ayser’s story is the perfect juxtaposition between the immigrant trying to fit into American society as well as the Muslim Arab raised in America that no longer fits into Arabic society. Essentially, Ayser is in limbo between two worlds that she doesn’t quite fit into. No matter where she sits, she’s on the wrong end of the table.
